I am a social entrepreneur and CEO/Founder of Bajalia International Group and Bajalia Trading Company (www.bajalia.com). The two companies are a collaboration of for-profit and non-profit, based in Winter Park, Florida and simultaneously working in 28 countries around the globe. I was named one of “150 Women Who Shake the World” by Newsweek-Daily Beast in 2011.  My company Bajalia is an import company, which designs and distributes designer- quality products serving the high-end retail mass market with our Bajalia brand and the specialty and big box retail mass market through our private label products. Eighty percent of our production workforce is produced by women artisans with hand-made works manufactured in emerging countries. While the for-profit component of my business leads sales and marketing efforts, the non-profit excels in entrepreneurial training and developmental workshops, while incubating businesses in emerging economies. Bajalia launched our fair trade products on HSN in March 2011. Later we launched in Canada on The Shopping Channel in 2013 and in the UK on QVC in 2014.

My career began in the banking industry where I became the youngest Vice President in the American Banking Association. Later I moved into the advertising industry, where I  held executive advertising and design and product development roles for major retailers including Bloomingdales, Richs, Neiman Marcus, Horchow, Macy’s and Marshall Fields. My planning and strategy experience with Fortune 500 companies includes Dell Computer, Southwestern Bell, Coco-Cola, Atlanta Committee for Olympic Games, Turner Broadcasting, Turner Home Entertainment, CNN, Cartoon Network, Atlanta Braves, UPS, Celebrity Cruises and Ritz Carlton. As a stylist my editorial work has been published in Women’s Wear Daily, W® Magazine, Architectural Digest, Bride’s and People magazine. My broadcast work includes commercial clients such as Honey Baked Ham, Ford, CNN, and Federated Department Stores including Macy’s and Richs. As a Creative Director I have won numerous advertising awards including Gold and Silver Addy awards, CLIO, Show South and Catalog Age.

I am  a Jacksonville, Florida native and first generation Palestinian-American. Both of my parents were born in Ramallah, Palestine, and migrated,  to the United States in the late 40’s.  I am a frequent international traveler and I speak Arabic, English and very limited Dari and Hindi. I also serve on several non-profit advisory boards, including the Business Council for Peace and during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, I developed a program to help families that were relocated to Dallas, Texas where I lived at the time. This program was praised by the Red Cross and used as a model for other non-profits organizations.

I have lived in Texas, Georgia and presently call Winter Park, Florida my home with my German Shepard,  Jada and her Dachsund mix dog, Stella.  And did I mention I have a great “Big Fat Arab Family” with lots of cousins. At least 40,000 at last count. No lie – I can trace my decedents back to the 1100’s.
