As I have traveled the world I have seen a lot of violence to women. It all disturbs me greatly but the act of acid attacks is so horrific I can’t believe how this is ever increasing. In case you haven’t heard this is a form of violent assault mostly on women defined as the act of throwing acid or a similarly corrosive substance onto the body of another with the intention to disfigure, maim, torture or kill. Really who thought of this? And in the developing world acid is so cheap and available so readily.
So this month imagine my intrigue seeing 19-year-old Reshma Banoo Qureshi on the runway in NYC for Fashion Week 2016.

Qureshi was 17-years-old when her brother-in-law attacked her with acid, disfiguring her face and body. She even lost one of her eyes.
But despite all of this, Qureshi has refused to hide behind closed doors. She is out to change the world and has used her face on billboards and campaigns to #EndAcidSale.

Her courage and bravery make her an amazing force for good in our world. I look at this and a woman who uses her pain to drive her passion and I know I was still wallowing in my pain at the age of 19 and would have never had this kind of courage. So I salute you beautiful girl, and I will support your campaign by posting about you and making sure your courage becomes contagious.
